Enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the judges meeting for the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2019.
When seven of our nine judges met at Cosentino’s showroom in Dubai Design District on 7 August to discuss the shortlist and anonymously select the winners, there were no easy decisions. It took hours of tough discussions, strong coffee and more than the occasional pain au chocolat to painstakingly review each submission.
Every entry was scored independently by each judge and the two highest-scoring submissions in each category have been selected as winner and highly commended respectively. We used this process to safeguard the objectivity and impartiality of the CID Awards. Even the judges didn't know the final winners.
With the design industry facing pressure, our nine judges were impressed by the high quality submissions that reflect the integrity and continued creativity of the industry. As well as recognising some of the most beautiful, considered and artistic interior design from the Middle East and North Africa between July 2018 and July 2019, the CID Awards strives to elevate the level of design to world-class standards. Good enough is no longer acceptable – and this year’s shortlist goes some way in demonstrating how the bar for memorable, thought-provoking, great design is being raised.
