Woods Bagot follows the way of the dragon

A gold rush town in Australia will be the home of a spectacular museum project by Woods Bagot.

The project is an extension to the Golden Dragon Museum in Bendigo, Victoria, which pays homage to the town’s Chinese heritage.

Some 4,000 Chinese people arrived to the town during the gold rush of the 1850s.

The three-level extension will include a restaurant, gift shop, function space and internal courtyard gardens.

The patterning on the metallic skin is said to reference the Chinese wheel of life, while the rising of the building to a third storey on the south is a deliberate gesture to feng-shui principals.
