T.ZED Architects, led by Dubai-based architect Tarik Zaharna, has been selected to design KOA’s first mixed-use development, Canvas in Dubai, UAE.
KOA is founded by Mohammed Bin Zaal, former CEO of Al Barrari.
Embedding nature into the residential areas was an important point in the design brief, in order to “leverage the neighbouring elements to create a continuous conversation throughout”.
Water features, open courtyards and natural lighting are used to further enhance the element of nature within the development. Natural stone and timber applications are also used across both interiors and exteriors.
In addition to 70 living units, the development will also include a multi-purpose amphitheater and a gourmet market. 41 different floor plans are also available to cater to a diverse group of residents.
“This project resonated with me on a number of levels. It gave my design team the opportunity to bring timeless architecture to produce a new model of modern living and remove the traditional boundaries defined by where one lives, works and socializes,” said Zaharna.
“KOA Canvas is a catalyst for a new type of neighborhood in the city, where a multitude of cultures live and work together. We are very proud to be working on such an innovative and ambitious project.”
Canvas is located near Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, off Emirates Road. It is expected to be complete by December 2017, with sales launching early next year.
