W Architects has undertaken renovation work on one of the most important historical sites in Singapore.
Over the last 158 years the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall has been home to performing arts and seen history and human drama take place within its walls during its role as a town hall, a hospital and war crimes court.
The regeneration work – commissioned by the Singapore government – was aimed at ensuring the structure’s aesthetic design is retained and its importance in the state’s past emphasised.
Beruit-based design company .PSLAB collaborated on the project. Its contribution included two series of overhead lighting clusters crafted completely in stainless steel – a single-level version and a multi-tiered bouquet version.
