Saudi Design Week is launching its fourth edition in October, with the 2017 theme exploring the concept of ‘Design in Motion’
Designers are briefed to apply the theme either literally, or figuratively, exploring the idea of ‘motion’ in design. This includes showcasing stories behind product designs and the ‘movement’ from sketch to shelf, or looking at design through multiple dimensions such as time. Other subjects such as the intersection of design and sports will also be explored.
The Riyadh-based design week is set within the Zaha Hadid-designed Apec Convention Centre (ACC) at the heart of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (KASPARC).
Special projects for the event have also been announced, featuring a petroleum-inspired design installation by BIA Design as well as a pavilion designed by Shepherd Design Studio which references traditional Saudi architecture and spatial considerations.
The event will be taking place from 4-9 October, 2017.
