International Ceramic City (ICC), one of the UAE’s latest developments set to become a B2B platform for ceramic building materials, signed an agreement with RAK Ceramics on July 5, 2011.

According to this, RAK Ceramics will open a 5,200 square foot showroom, one of the largest at ICC once the development opens for business later this year in November, with an option to add an additional 5,000 square feet.

“Having RAK Ceramics, the world’s largest manufacturer of ceramics, as our valued partner will support the development and growth of ICC. We are confident this association will also prove highly beneficial for RAK Ceramics given the strategic value and world-class services offered by ICC,” said Naseer Ahmed, CEO, ICC.

Ahmed said the ICC will feature the best of ceramic manufacturers from the region, and will include ceramic tiles, marbles and stone. Apart from the ceramic offerings, it will also host banks, a food court and other amenities. It will also be associated with various trade associations, he added.

“RAK Ceramics is pleased to be part of International Ceramic City, which will serve as an important venue to bring us closer to our customers and to strengthen our market stronghold. We will be putting up a genuinely unique and attractive showroom that will reinforce RAK Ceramics’ reputation as a global industry leader and premier innovator in ceramic tile designs and concepts.

ICC will offer a one-stop-shop for manufacturers and buyers around the globe, allowing manufacturers to showcase and trade their products locally and internationally, will cover an area of 400,000 square feet, and will cost $120 million (AED 440.4 million).

Along with its network of offices, ICC Dubai provides trade development and business intelligence services as well as advisory services.

A project by Al Rashid Investments Dubai, ICC will be based in Jebel Ali, Dubai, and is targeted at the MENASA region (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia).
