Acclaimed architect develops display system for Coach

With many retail projects on its list, acclaimed Dutch architecture firm OMA is developing a modular display system for luxury accessory brand Coach.

OMA created a system of modular display units for the US brand that can be assembled in response to the specific needs of each store.

“We wanted a system that could tell the story of any of Coach’s wide repertoire of products, whilst projecting the legibility of its original stores,” said Shohei Shigematsu, the leading OMA partner for the project, working with Lebanese project architect, Rami Abou Khalil.

The first two systems are planned for flagship stores in New York located in Macy’s Herald Square, due to open in September, and in Tokyo, which will launch the following year.

OMA has been recently nominated for the Stirling prize for its Maggie’s Centre, Gartnavel in Glasgow and its Rothschild Bank headquarters in London.

With previous fashion-based projects including the New York Prada store, OMA continues its foray into the industry.
