UAE: Commercial Interior Design sees thousands of design objects every year, from the seemingly mundane to the unforgettably quirky. And what better way to share the best of what’s out on the market, than by honouring the top 100 pieces?
For the past three years, we’ve put our favourite picks in the CID publication Objects of Desire and this year will be no different. We’ll be putting the most memorable objects in a giant coffee table book made especially to inspire designers, grab the attention of specifiers and emotionally move admirers.
This year’s edition of Objects of Desire will be the title’s fourth running version and is set to include a number of product designs that truly reflect the market as it stands today.
While some of the products, such as the ones previewed here, can be found at local trade fairs such as Design Days Dubai, others will be known as major milestones for many product and interior designers alike.
This year’s book will feature 100 of the market’s best products photographed among inspiring scenery so as to dazzle and motivate our readers.
And as usual, the book will come with its own launching party at a gallery in Dubai in May. The private party will be open to an invite-only guest list of interior designers, industrial designers and the purveyors of our objects of desire.
If last year’s launch party is any indicator of this year’s, guests can look forward to an array of objects from the book placed throughout the open space, adding an exhibitionary element to the night. Guests will also be able to expect plenty of industry insiders with whom to mingle and network.
Each guest at the launch party will also receive the limited edition coffee-table book Objects of Desire. And those of our readers who are unable to receive one will be able to catch up on its content with a supplement version highlighting the book’s cream of the crop in the following issue of Commercial Interior Design.
The products will include playful lighting pieces like Les Bulles by Piergil Fourquie, and funky seating like the black armchair by Hyungshin Hwang. Other products will include well-crafted and contemporary desk units, and meticulously done metal work.
This year, Objects of Desire will celebrate inspirational design and authentic artwork, as the 100 products that will fill the monolith’s pages will maintain an ethos that binds them all together and places them up front and centre.
