Following the recent success of The Galleria in Abu Dhabi at the Middle East Architect awards, the development has won the Devine Detail: Award of Merit at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Middle East award ceremony.
Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects as Design Architect and Benoy as Architect-of-Record, the precinct forms the centerpiece of Sowwah Square, Al Maryah Island, connecting the district to the waterfront promenade.
Howard Elkus principal, Elkus Manfredi Architects and concept designer of The Galleria, said: “The focus of our efforts was to create a new paradigm in retail in the Middle East that would be the jewel in the crown of Abu Dhabi’s remarkable Financial Center complex.
“We are delighted to see people from all over the globe enjoying The Galleria and injecting energy into the Financial Center, which is an impressive design landmark in itself. What a privilege to have had the opportunity to shape this transformative space.”
At the Middle East Architect Awards The Galleria won Hospitality and Leisure Project of the Year with the judges calling it a “beautifully designed and executed structure, well detailed, elegant and visually impressive.”
