A “mobile hotel” which will allow airline passengers to step off an aircraft and straight into bed is being proposed for Qatar’s new Hamad International Airport, which is currently under construction.
The hotel has been designed by UK architect Margo Tarasovich and is aimed at people in transit through Doha The idea is that it would move through the airport under its own power, meeting incoming flights as they arrive.
According to initial proposals rooms will be small and contain little more than a bed and sitting area, but
eventually they could also include internet access and facilities to charge electronic devices.
The $15.5bn Hamad International Airport was due to open in April after three years of delayed opening dates. The latest date for it to commence operations is sometime in the third quarter of this year.
