The Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Makkah has released designs for 14 out of 50 mosques in an aim to highlight the city’s Islamic identity, Construction Week Online reported.
The agreement was signed between the ministry and the Charitable Foundation for the Construction of Mosques to design and rehabilitate 50 mosques in Makkah, according to Saudi’s Arab News.
The agreement also involves a review of the infrastructure and services of the city and the Al-Mashaer area.
Implementation of the designs has already begun on 14 of the mosques with the project aiming to create traditional architecture within a modern framework across the city.
