Jotun highlights its GreenSteps initiative at WFES 2012

Jotun Paints, World Future Energy Summit

Jotun Paints will throw the spotlight on its ‘GreenSteps’ initiative during the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), from January 16-19 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The company is looking to leverage its range of environmentally sustainable paints like ‘Jotashield Extreme’ and ‘Cool Shades’ collection, following a report by the International Chamber of Commerce-UAE (ICC-UAE), which claims the UAE ‘green’ market will be worth over USD 2.74 trillion by 2020.

The firm’s Abu Dhabi production facility produces more than 23 million litres of paints annually, and has managed to strengthen its sustainability efforts with the roll-out of its ‘GreenSteps’ initiative, a five-point goal programme that meets world class green building standards.

The five ‘GreenSteps’ include the move to reduce energy consumption; reduce carbon footprint; reduce waste; reduce the use of solvent or Volatile Organic Content (VOC) and reduce the use of hazardous materials.

“Our participation at this year’s WFES demonstrates our steadfast commitment towards protecting the environment and playing an active role in the move to sustainability,” said Sverre Knudsen, general manager Abu Dhabi, Jotun Paints.

“WFES will allow us a strategic platform to showcase our five-point ‘GreenSteps’ programme, which is an integral driver to our operations as well as innovations. We are proud to be part of this unique event and to also say that we are one of the few suppliers to have approved products that have gone through tough tests to be certified from around the globe.”

Testament to the company’s dedication towards achieving sustainability is its presence as one of the suppliers for the Masdar project in Abu Dhabi, where it is also listed in the online directory of Sustainable Building Products of Masdar

Jotun Paints will be in Hall 8, Stand 8110 at the Norway Pavilion, WFES.
