The Middle East’s largest interiors exhibition is set to host a compact edition of its design event from September 16-18, 2018. Centred on the theme of East meets West, the show has been re-imagined as a modern-day Silk Road; the legendary cross-continental trade route that opened-up new markets for Asian and European commercial exchange. One of the objectives behind the second edition of the exhibition is to soft launch Index in its new dateline, which will see the event move entirely to September in 2019.
The event is expected to welcome 400 furniture and decor companies from across the continents, all specialising in fit-out and interior products for commercial, hospitality, retail and residential design projects. This compact edition of Index will take place alongside FIM, an event dedicated to showcasing materials, fittings and technology used to manufacture interior products.
Another highlight of the event is Trend Hub, an interactive platform for designers and retailers that will include seminar sessions on 2020 design and colour trends, experiential design, social media for business development and visual merchandising. It will also host installations by Tashkeel, which will present a curated showcase of local talent. Index will also be collaborating with Boxmark and South African designer Ronel Jordaan, who are creating a commissioned piece called the Wool Waterfall. Some of the new international brands participating in the event are Ciello from Sri Lanka and Lisowski Glass Studio from Cyprus.
