A team from Herman Miller MEA, along with guests from CBS and Connection Seating, took part in the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon in both the 10km and 3km events raising US$10,000 recently.
The team consisted of 16 runners, 10 in the 10km and six in the 3km, with the fastest time posted by Stacy Stewart, dealer market manager, Herman Miller (Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain),
who completed the course in just under 40 minutes, placing him 28th in his age group and 110th overall.
“The run was a great event both in our ability to support a great charity and in the way it brought our team together, the increased level of fitness was a bonus,” said Rob Keddie, regional director, Herman Miller MEA.
“All of the team beat their personal bests, which in some cases wasn’t hard as they’d never run 10km before. We’re now looking at building on this success and getting actively involved in making our donations work as hard as we can.”
The event attracted nearly 15,000 participants and was based on roads around the Burj Khalifa.
The team, was sponsored by regional dealers; ABC – UAE, Benta Trading – Lebanon, H20 Concepts – UAE, Hoshan – Saudi, Jalapeno – UAE, KMed – Kuwait, Office Work Centre – Lebanon and Salam Enterprises – Qatar and Bahrain.
Cash was also donated from a Herman Miller auction in the UK, where it auctioned a number of Arria desks from its Lifework portfolio, raising approx US$2,400 in December, along with other individual contributions.
“We are looking to work with an African charity that helps give shelter, clothing, food and education to street orphans. Beyond the initial donation, we are aiming to provide longer term support, to include working visits and help with clothing, educational supplies and of course, some furniture,” added Keddie.
“On behalf of the Herman Miller MEA team and our charity, we’d like to thank everyone who supported us for this good cause.”
