Feria Habitat Valencia 2011 celebrated 10 years of an exhibition dedicated to up and coming designers called Nude this year.

The event was held at Feria Valencia from September 20-24, in Spain, and included regional manufacturers such as Vondom, Koo International, Darc, Andreu World, Luzifer Lighting and Expormim.

More than 2,500 local and international visitors attended the tradeshow from 80 different countries.

The show floor was redesigned this year to look like a railway station, with colour-coded tracks for easier navigation and a Grand Central station with digital information boards.

Other initiatives included Flash Habitat where manufacturers showcased new products in the style of a sneak peek fashion show.

Jose Blasco Moran took over as president of Habitat Valencia in November 2010. He manages Grupo Confortec and sits on a number of boards for business associations in the wood and furniture sector.

“We have managed to bring together all the different sectors and get them moving in the same direction, which is to reactivate the market and stand together as a strong productive sector for the future,” he said.

“Spanish design has an excellent reputation around the word. This is owing not exclusively to top names like Patricia Urquiola or Jamie Hayon, but also to a large number of designers and studios that are earning names for themselves worldwide. For example, Culdesac, Odosdesign, Jose Manuel Ferrero, Hector Serrano, who are all former Nude participants.”

A total of 40 schools of design and design practices made up the international design show, Nude.

The event is a benchmark for young interior design and organisers use the exhibition to promote and support their work.
