Ground broken on $245mn The Atria development

Construction work has begun on Deyaar Development’s $245mn project, The Atria, at Business Bay.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held at the site on Wednesday, just two days after the development was announced.

The event was headlined by Saeed Al Qatami, chief executive officer, Deyaar, and Eng. Homam AlShelh, director of construction, at the designated contracting firm, Middle East Foundations Group LLC.

In what is the company’s first foray into the hospitality industry, the 1.25mn ft2 twin-tower will feature 350 serviced apartments and 219 residential units.

The development will include 15-18,000ft2 of retail space as well as a luxury restaurant, three swimming pools, a spa and sauna, health club, miniature golf park, basketball and squash courts.

Deyaar’s new project, which is scheduled for handover in 2017, is also its first collaborative venture with internationally-acclaimed interior designers yoo Studio.

Deyaar is set to release select residential units in The Atria at a sales event scheduled to run from 15-16 March at the H Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. Open to all, the sales event will run from 9am-6pm on both days.
