Ellington Properties’ Belgravia III blurs the line between residential and hospitality design

Dubai-born Ellington Properties has launched Belgravia III in Dubai’s Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) neighbourhood, the firm’s third residential building under its flagship brand.

Consisting of two L-shaped buildings that face one another, the two buildings overlook a central courtyard complete with a swimming pool, landscaping and a private seating area.

The team designed the lobby area and public spaces, including the guest lounge, gym and children’s play area, as well as the apartments.

Bean says that the lines are now quite blurred and hospitality design trends are now crossing over into residential buildings and vice versa.

“In both hospitality and residential projects, lobby areas are definitely become more social spaces. In the Belgravia building, the lobby is quite contemporary and tied with a guest lounge, which everybody who lives there can use,” he said.

Each building block has its own separate identity in terms of design, featuring 224 studios and one and two bedroom apartments, complete with a contemporary facade.

The residential project pays a strong focus on “community living”, including high-end features and dynamic lighting reminiscent of a hospitality space, as well as artworks and sculptures created by local artists.

The apartments feature high ceilings across living, dining and bedrooms, giving them a spacious feel.

Belgravia III also includes a residents’ lounge, with the aim of bringing the outdoors inside. It contains a pool and seating area and a small cinema.

Earlier this year, SKAI, the Dubai-based real estate and hospitality group, had announced it had completed 40 percent of the construction of its AED1.28 billion ($348.4 million) Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village hotel and residences.

The development is on track to open as planned in 2018, the developer said in a statement, despite the fire that occurred in August last year.
