Dubai to feature marine stations for canal project

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality have announced plans to build three marine transport stations, reported Abu Dhabi newspaper The National.

Following the talks about the Dubai Creek canal and Jumeirah Corniche projects, the two agencies spoke about the flow and quality of the canal’s water stream, planned to run 3km from Business Bay through Downtown Dubai and linking with the Arabian Gulf.

The overall project will include a boat lift and the canal itself will run through Safa Park, emerging at newly designed Jumeirah Beach Pak that features a marina with moorings for 120 boats.

The project by RTA began last February and is planned to be completed by November.

The National reported that the two agencies additionally discussed the marina transport masterplan.

The RTA said: “The marine transport plan also envisages the expansion of Al Mamzar, and the Jumeirah Open Beach, to accommodate the Dubai Ferry and the Water Taxi, and the building of a new marine transport station at Al Jaddaf, with a view to boosting the integration of multi-modal mass transit systems at Al Jaddaf.”
