Dewan to open two offices in India

UAE-based firm Dewan Architects & Engineers announced it will open offices in New Delhi and Mumbai to capitalise on the burgeoning Indian construction market.

Dewan is currently setting up its office in India’s capital city – expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2012 – with a second office to be open soon afterwards in Mumbai.

The firm will jointly operate in the Indian market with entrepreneur Manoj Prasad.

It is also close to signing two other major contracts, expected to be announced in the second quarter of 2012, that are said to ensure “a permanent presence in India”.

Mohamed Al Assam, founder, chairman and managing director of Dewan, commented: “These are exciting times. The reputation of our firm and our principles has positioned Dewan as an international firm.

“The global down turn in real estate has had limited impact in India as there is phenomenal growth in all areas of business and finance. Positive reports indicating significant growth in these sectors means we are optimistic about the future.”

In India, Dewan will focus on master-planning townships and urban communities as well as mixed-use real estate developments in areas such as hospitality, business parks and residential towers, drawing from its experience in developing similar projects carried out in the Middle East.

Its Middle East projects include the Yas Hotel and Al Bateen School in Abu Dhabi, Media One Tower and Green Community in Dubai, UAE, and Baghdad Rotana Hotel in Iraq.
