Clèmence Cuingnet crowned Young Interior Designer of the Year

Samuel Creations’ Clemence Cuingnet is the winner of the 2013 Young Interior Designer of the Year award.

Given to the most promising commercial interior designer, under the age of 30, currently working in the Middle East, Cuingnet was selected for her outstanding choice of fixtures, sculptural enclosures and keen eye for detail.

Judges also acknowledged her strong communication skills, calling them an “asset for any project”. They also felt that her background as an architect gives her real insight and advantage in the design world.

“I am so honoured and excited. This is a very happy moment!” said Cuingnet, when she picked up her award.

She added: “I try to mix a little bit of everything and see with architect eyes first, and then zoom in more and more. I like to create specific ambiances, and i try my best to match the brief and add something extra.”

Cuingnet was able to beat off stiff competition from Eileen Jaffary, U+A Architects; Emma Stinson, founder of Studio EM; Laila Al Yousuf, Pringle Brandon Perkins + Will; and Maysoun Abou Houly, GAJ Architects.
