Assael Architecture has won planning permission for a 12-storey, 150-home development opposite the UK’s Elstree Film Studios where blockbusters such as the Star Wars series are made.
The studio objected to the development on the grounds that new residents might complain about noise from activities at the facility where many action movies are filmed.
A previous application was rejected and developers Heronslea then appointed Assael whose scheme was approved by planners on the local Hertsmere council.
The design is influenced by 1930s art deco cinema architecture, a reference to the studios.
Four different colours of brickwork are used to reflect the different uses and the building has several roof terraces.
