Dubai-based interior designer Sneha Divias was voted 2017 Interior Designer of the Year, competing against top seven designers in the region who made the cut for this year’s CID Awards.
Born and raised in Portugal, Divias holds a Master Degree in architecture from the Lusiada University of Porto while specialised in interior design at New York University. She worked at Atelier Nini Andrade Silva in Lisbon and LW Design in Dubai before establishing her own practice Sneha Divias Atelier.
Judges commended her design aesthetics and consistency within her work, highlighting the diverse portfolio of projects that were implemented since the recent launch of her own studio.
Upon receiving the award Divias commented: “It is fantastic to receive recognition from the industry, I feel honored with this award especially because I have just set up my own studio this year, which was a big milestone for my career that has been very fulfilling. I am thankful for having the opportunity to work on so many interesting and different projects with supportive clients that challenge me as a designer in Dubai’s fast-paced and dynamic creative scene.”
Ranging from residential to retail and regardless of scale, the judges also praised her ability to create layered spaces that are both sophisticated yet unpretentious.
One judge described Sneha’s designs as “timeless, elegant and responding to the nature of the project”. She has created a niche and a signature design style – making her contribution to the local design industry truly award winning.
Highly commended for quality of projects through, which his company has created a niche for himself, is Chris Barnes, the creative force behind Broadway Interiors.
The award was presented by Katrina Tasbaz, specification and design manager from Roca.
