Audi Innovation Award invites submissions by designers based in the Middle East

Audi Innovation Award, Design competition, Dubai Design Week

The Audi Innovation Award 2018 is inviting GCC and Levant-based designers to submit entries to this year’s edition, with the theme centered on ‘Connections’. The competition, led by Audi Middle East in partnership with Dubai Design Week, aims to boost regional designers, while also documenting intellectual and creative progress in the region. The objective of the prize is to act as a design and technology industry motivator.

The award acts as a mark of outstanding achievement, celebrating the exchange of ideas, investing in the collective by nurturing and empowering the future generation of creative thinkers. Last year’s prize was awarded to Jordanian designer Sahar Madanat (pictured above) for her one-handed tableware set.

The prize to the winning designer of the Audi Innovation Award will include a trophy and a trip to the Audi factory in Ingolstadt, Germany to experience the automotive design journey at the company headquarters.

In addition, Audi Middle East will also award the winner with $25,000 worth of consultancy to cover items such as IP registration, legal counselling and business development. The German marquee will work closely with their partners at Dubai Design Week to provide design advice and mentoring to ensure the winning design is protected and given avenues for further development. The submissions will be judged based on degree of innovation, appearance, impact, emotional content and environmental impact.

Shortlisted candidates will also receive $2,500 towards the presentation of their concept model that is to be exhibited during Dubai Design Week in November, 2018.
