Hazel Wong – the designer of Dubai’s Emirates Towers while working at NORR – says she “never copies” when it comes to architecture.

She is currently completing the Serenia Residences development in Dubai, which will see 250 top-end homes come onto the market, spread across three buildings linked by open spaces and a large swimming pool.

She said: “My work is original, but ideas are never wholly yours. They are always partially inspired by something that exists elsewhere in the world.

“I learn in that manner – but I never copy.”

Wong was born in Hong Kong, but then lived in Canada and the USA. She designed Emirates Towers in Dubai.

She said of the designs after completion: “Everyone has [appreciated] how one tower is reflected off the other and how one sits higher than the other in a positive way. And I carry that theme of movement throughout most of the buildings I design. When you walk around the buildings moves with you.”
