Northpoint Architects from South Africa and interior designers AK Design in UAE will celebrate the opening of Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara in Abu Dhabi next week.
Located along 1.2km shores of Abu Dhabi’s protected mangrove reserves, the five-level hotel has 222 rooms and a modern architectural style with inspiration drawn from Arabic design including arches, mashrabiyas, intricate mosaics and solid timber.
Kim Nielsen, design director, AK Design, oversaw the project and the hotel’s colour palette features simple, classic tones, enlivened by plants, lights and fabrics.
There are touches of 18-carat gold adding to the luxurious feel, while Middle Eastern artwork adorns the walls.
Lighting fixtures are installed at certain locations in the venue to create striking focal points in the hotel, making lighting a form of art throughout the building.
Rooms include entry-level Deluxe Balcony suites, to the Royal Mangroves Residence – the largest suite in the UAE with up to 10 bedrooms. The Anantara Spa features the largest traditional Turkish Hammam in the region.
