New details have been announced for the recently announced Dubai Steps monument, as well as two new images that depict what the project is expected to look like.
Dubai Media Office’s official Twitter account revealed additional facts about Dubai Steps, which was first announced in April as one of the projects under Dubai Municipality’s five big project announcements for the city. These include a five-hectare Convention Centre, The Hardware and Bicycles Warehouse in Warsan as well as the Vertical Industrial City designed by an unannounced Italian architecture firm.
Dubai Steps will be a 25-storey structure which will reach 100 metres into the sky near Union Square and is planned to take no more than a year to build, according to assistant director general of Engineering and Planning at Dubai Municipality.
The 500 step tower will be complete with a obelisk-like monumet with five dedicated rest and event spaces planned every 100 steps.
The project aims to serve three different purposes including sport, recreation and relaxation.
The steps symbolise “the challenges faced by Dubai and the emirate’s progress”, according to WAM.
