Abu Dhabi Cityscape set for April

Projects emphasising the importance of heritage and natural landscape as well as new residential, public and commercial developments are all currently underway in Abu Dhabi.

This year’s Cityscape in the UAE’s capital will showcase the latest developments and is gearing up to host more than 130 exhibitors over 18,000m2 of exhibition space. It runs from April 21 to 23.

Wouter Molman, director, said:  “The event turned a corner in 2014 as we saw over 17,000 attendees over the three days; a 15% year-on-year increase. This year, we are forecasted to grow by over 15%, as registered exhibitors have already reached higher numbers than in previous years, enabling us to add an additional hall to the show.”

Last year a total of 76 approvals for new large scale projects were given by the emirates Strategic Urban Authority.

These include a new concept plan for Al Maryah Island containing Gulf Related’s Al Maryah Central and Farglory’s Maryah Plaza are underway, alongside the 29-storey M Tower and the Al Qurm View projects on neighbouring Reem Island. Plans for a new Yas Island Beach Club have also been given the green light.

UPC executive director for Urban Development and Estidama, Mohamed Al Khadar, said: “These approved projects bring us closer to achieving the goals of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and are very exciting for residents and tourists alike, as we look to develop and showcase Abu Dhabi not only as a great place to visit, but an attractive place to live.”
