Harrods is to mark its first UAE interiors venture by designing the VIP Oasis for Index Design Series 2017. The high-end London retailer, which is owned by Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, Qatar Holdings, will conduct interior design (ID) for the VIP lounge, which will be situated within the exhibition’s forest area.
Stylists from the store’s interior design arm, Harrods Interiors, plan to use the project as a platform to present their debut furniture range. It will be the first time that pieces from the collection will be displayed outside of London.
Commenting on the project, Letitia Taylor, head of Harrods Interiors, said: “We are delighted to support Index this year in Dubai. We will be creating a visual feast for the senses by using the intense colours and textures of nature, inspired by the wild.
“Guests will be transported into the heart of a tropical paradise. By using an exciting mix of organic materials and whimsical prints with strong and unexpected narratives, Harrods Interiors will create a memorable sensory experience for our guests with the design celebrating all of the latest interior and design trends.”
Samantha Kane-Macdonald, director of Index Design Series, added: “There may simply be no brand held in the same esteem as Harrods. When you speak of Harrods, people know you’re talking high-end; they picture signature designers and outstanding products.
“That reputation has been built by a near two-century dedication to style and innovation; hallmarks that are now the cornerstones of Harrods Interiors. To have such a respected, experienced, and design-leading creative team as the brains behind our VIP lounge is a source of huge excitement for everyone involved in Index.”
In addition to its debut furniture collection, Harrods Interiors will use Index 2017 to showcase a wallpaper created in conjunction with de Gournay, which is inspired by the store’s Art Deco architecture.
Show visitors will also be able to book an appointment with a consultant from Harrods Interiors Furniture Service.
The 27th Index Design Series will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 22-25 May, 2017.
