.PSLAB wins red dot product design award 2012
Lebanon-based .PSLAB has won its seventh red dot Award since 2004 with a product design award 2012, with an honourable mention for product CM64-A.
The award was given for a composite suspended light fixture, created for Iris, rooftop bar and restaurant in Beirut, Lebanon.
“The recognition awarded to us by red dot is an indication of our continuous pursuit of excellence and highlights the high level of creativity we adhere to and that is uniform across all our projects,” said the design team from .PSLAB.
The product was created to break up the unusually narrow and linear space that characterised the rooftop bar and restaurant.
The light fixture consists of a line of upside-down V-shaped black steel fixtures finished with exposed white bulbs, suspended over the bar by black cables and further defined by a black box within the peak of the V-shape.
“We design and manufacture site-specific lighting products that can be both technical and decorative. Both the concept as well as the space inspires our designs when working on a new project,” said .PSLAB.
“Our international teams – from Lebanon, France, Germany, and Italy and beyond – have learned their crafts all over the world. We are artisans of light and our products grow out of the unique environments we encounter on each project.
“We create the fixtures based on the site’s specific characteristics. Because we manufacture our own fixtures we control the technical aspects, which are a very important part of our identity and constitutes an advantage. The quality of our craftsmanship relative to the ambitions of our product concepts is one of our core strengths,” the firm added.
.PSLAB is currently working on a host of projects including: a yoga centre in Beirut; two residences in London; a residence in Beirut, Italy, Morocco, UAE, Oman; a restaurant and bar in Beirut; a hotel in France; a palace in the UAE; and, a mall in Kuwait.
