Meet the CID Awards sponsor: Preciosa

Commercial Interior Design Awards would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Here you have a chance to get to know them.

The 10th annual Commercial Interior Design Awards will take place in Dubai, UAE on 21 September 2016 and nominations are still being accepted until the deadline of 20 July 2016.

Spanning 17 categories, the awards recognise projects from across the Middle East region. Individually, 11 categories cover design projects, including office, hotel and leisure. The remaining six reward individuals and firms that have raised the bar in the region, such as Interior Designer of the Year and the Behind the Scenes award.

All nominations are free and must be submitted online at Each submission should include clear images along with 500-words of text that describe why the nominated subject deserves to win. By going to the website, nominators can upload a single PDF file with supporting images, not larger than 10MB. All design firms are eligible to nominate commercial and residential projects from the MENA region that have been completed between July 2015 – July 2016. Images of finished projects, rather than renderings, should be submitted for the design sector categories.

And while your nominations are on their way, we have talked with the sponsors of the Commercial Interior Design Awards to share their expectations, but also to deliver their messages to all of our nominees.

Craftsmanship, expertise in the art of glass making and excellence based on years of experience passed down from generation to generation are among Preciosa’s core values.

The leading global designer and manufacturer of bespoke decorative lighting installations and chandeliers is for the sixth year a Gold sponsor of CID Awards.

Martin Fryzelka, managing director of Preciosa Middle East

“Preciosa Lighting would like to acknowledge the creativity, innovation, and vision of the Middle East´s interior design industry. The idea of bringing the region’s design community together, sharing the inspiration, strengthening the mutual ties and creating new bonds makes supporting the CID Awards 2016 an essential role,” says Martin Fryzelka, managing director of Preciosa Middle East.

The company is also a sponsor of the hospitality category. Fryzelka explains that designers and architects are always testing new solutions that can take decorative lighting to another level.

“These bright and innovative ideas often lead to unconventional design, methods, and technologies that go far beyond the predictable and ordinary.

“The UAE design and architecture industry electrifies us with its creative environment, resourceful people, and challenging projects. We are looking forward to testing new solutions, developing dialogues and serving as an endless source of inspiration for those who breathe design,” adds Fryzelka.

Being able to deliver complex and out of the box solutions, Preciosa’s lighting installations decorate prestigious hotels and palaces around the world as well as design exhibitions worldwide, including Milan Design Week. This year, Preciosa presented Crystal Automata, which combines the basic principles of mechanical movement with the four elements – fire, water, air and earth.

Fryzelka further announces that Preciosa will soon open its new atelier in Dubai Design District (d3).

He adds: “Over the centuries Preciosa has strengthened and deepened its knowledge of the characteristic properties of crystal glass, and we would like to reveal what we know about glass clarity, fragility and its ability to change shape in liquid form – at a level of masterly perfection. In our new Dubai atelier, we want to share our passion for glass.”
