In pictures: UAE’s interior designers unite to tackle water crisis
Eight interior designers from the region have once again contributed to ‘Design, Dine, Make a Difference’ gala, a charity event organised by Surge, a global non-profit organisation that provides safe water access to thousands of people worldwide.
With sustainability as their main criteria, the designers were challenged to create sustainable book shelves made of recycled materials.
The event was conceptualised by Laila Al-Yousuf, a senior interior designer at Perkins+Will. She wanted to find a way for the interior design community to give back to their community.
The locally-based design companies who had participated in the competition includes: Allen Architecture Interiors Design, Arcology, Art Plus 971, Bluehaus Group, Maja Kozel Design, Pallavi Dean Interiors, Perkins+Will and Tony Archibold.
The best design will be unveiled at a ceremony on December 7 at The Address hotel in Dubai Marina.
