Located in Vienna’s historical Golden Quarter is the newly completed Ai restaurant, designed by Beirut-based studio Gatserelia Design.

Japanese for ‘love’, Ai is a 130-cover restaurant set across two floors. Incorporating a robata grill, sushi bar and lounge, the space features a thoroughly detailed interior design that consists of geometric patterns, soft colours and luxury finishes.

According to the design team, Gatserelia Design achieved a sense of “dynamism through the use of powerful lines and contemporary features, whilst also keeping the opulent, sophisticated feel that distinguishes this neighbourhood from others.”

Gregory Gatserelia, founder of his namesake studio, grew up in France until 1967, when he moved back to Lebanon. Originally Georgian, he obtained a degree in interior architecture from the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts and went on to work in the residential and commercial sectors. He now works across the interiors industry.

Entirely designed by Gatserelia, the restaurant is his first venture in Vienna.
