Muvi Atelier Mall cinema in Jeddah and Muvi The View cinema in Riyadh have just opened in Saudi Arabia. Designed by Chapman Taylor, the projects are the latest in the ongoing roll-out of the Muvi cinema brand.
The Atelier Mall venue is a four-screen cinema complex capable of accommodating 200 moviegoers and is Muvi’s first luxury standalone cinema complex in Jeddah. Meanwhile, The View, offers nine screens with a capacity of 977 seats.
Overview of Muvi projects
In 2019, Chapman Taylor was engaged to design and deliver a series of state-of-the-art cinemas for the Muvi Cinemas brand, the first Saudi-owned cinema chain. The first opened in August 2019 at The Mall of Arabia, KSA. Later, many more cinemas opened up in the Kingdom as the country updated its rules on entertainment.
A premium style
The designs for the premium cinema venues have a theme of urban downtown, with the intention of creating a dynamic, modern and innovative cinema experience. Internal spaces are characterised by an industrial, yet luxurious, material palette, including timber, exposed steelwork, exposed brickwork and an exposed concrete floor. Digital LED screens and dramatic lighting installations complement the city warehouse feel, providing a strong visual identity for the developments.
