Marina Home’s new concept store takes inspiration from the Hamburg Warehouse District

The resigned concept store also includes the brands first ever in-store café

Home furnishings brand Marina Home has unveiled its concept store redesign at Al Reem Mall, Abu Dhabi. Retail design consultancy Altavia ODG worked with the brand to deliver the reimagined space, combining elements of industrial architecture with the warmth of natural wood to create an inviting and gallery-like ambience.

The storefront was inspired by Hamburg Warehouse district industrial architecture, with contemporary finishes such as off-shutter concrete and blockwork walls utilized throughout the interior. Altavia ODG  head of design Robin Rossi and his team drew inspiration from industrial architecture, particularly the Brutalist era.

The Brutalist inspiration was crucial to preserving the tsignature industrial-contemporary style of Marina Home stores, the iconic bricwork reminiscent of New York’s meatpacking district.

To cater to imaginative visual merchandise arrangements and frequent updates, single-pivot and flexible partitions were designed that could be effortlessly moved to create a dynamic environment. Versatile, modular units allow staff to easily rearrange displays on the go. For the rug selection in-store, display systems were specially conceived from a fashion retail perspective to allow for easy browsing and to encourage engagement with the products.

The expansive 2,260 sqm store also includes Marina Home’s first-ever in-store café, designed to integrate with the retail space. This blend of retail and F&B aims to enhance the customer journey and increase dwell time, allowing for a more immersive shopping experience.
