Located on the 15th floor of the Andaz Hotel Palm Jumeirah, a third Asia Asia outpost has opened in Dubai. It also marks the sixth venue that Bishop Design has delivered with Solutions Leisure Group in the past 18 months.
Bishop Design was commissioned to lead the creative process in a bid to elevate the aesthetics of the restaurant chain. It follows the makeover of the Pier 7 establishment and marks a growing partnership with nightlife and hospitality specialist, Solutions Leisure
The interior design draws inspiration from the exotic realms of the Far East, while showcasing terrace views of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including as the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Atlantis the Palm, and The Royal Atlantis
“The goal was to evoke vivid memories for those who have been fortunate enough to visit Asia and simultaneously, to immerse those who are yet to experience the Far East, making them feel as though they are journeying through it,” says Paul Bishop, owner and founder of Bishop Design.
The design narrative revolves around the concept of the Asian ‘Spice Run,’ emphasizing the rich and varied culinary traditions across the continent and avoiding being overly tied to a specific geographic location, enabling a fusion of various Asian cultures.
Different elements, including traditional art, textiles, and architectural motifs, are blended harmoniously to create a unique and eclectic environment.
“The design evolution incorporates innovative elements, introducing a heightened aesthetic that sets it apart from existing establishments while complementing its surroundings,” Bishop explains.
The new venue demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and every feature within the space serves a purpose. The tiles above the kitchen pass, for example, were specifically layered to resembles a soldier’s armour.
“We wanted to use authentic and innovative materials to mirror the diverse landscapes and textures associated with the continent. This led to us sourcing various materials and artefacts from all over the world,” he says.
“You can see how the use of rustic woods, vibrant textiles, and contemporary finishes has been integrated throughout to collectively contribute to the overarching narrative and ambience of the venue.”
