Australia-headquartered practice Woods Bagot, which has offices in Dubai, has designed an expanded campus for Dubai Knowledge Park’s Murdoch University.
The recently completed 27,000 sq ft space doubles the size of its original facility.
Constructed by KPS, the new campus maximises natural light and comprises a reception area; a library with quiet study zones; a student breakout space; classrooms; ‘touchdown zones’ and spaces for informal collaboration; and two octagonal lecture theatres.
Facilities for students include a cybersecurity lab with custom-built systems and education-focused furniture and interiors.
Commenting on the redesign, Dubai Knowledge Park and Dubai International Academic City managing director, Mohammad Abdullah, say: “Students here will have access to a vibrant campus situated within the heart of innovative business-focused communities such as Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City. There are few places that provide such as a stimulating environment to develop new skills, knowledge and creativity.”
Other projects Woods Bagot has worked on in the region include the 80-storey Index Tower in Dubai International Financial Centre and the Kempinski Hotel Muscat.
