Boutique practice H2R Design has delivered the three-star Rove Hotel at Dubai Parks and Resorts, integrating four contrasting elements to create a fun retreat for thrill-seeking families.
Rove at the Park opened earlier this year and Dubai-based H2R Design was responsible for delivering the interior design for the midscale brand’s sixth UAE property.
This included 579 rooms, the public spaces, furniture, lighting and accents.
Throughout the Rove-branded hotel – a joint venture between Meraas Holding and Emaar Properties – H2R Design brought subtle thematic nods to the amusement parks but retained restraint and subtly.
Hand-tufted carpet in the reception area symbolises the queues at theme parks, while colour blocking in the games room and suitcase locker area adds to the playfulness Rove Hotels is known for.
Having won Boutique Interior Design Firm of the Year at the Commercial Interior Design Awards 2019, H2R Design wanted the hotel to respond to its contextual surroundings, stay true to the UAE’s roots and flow naturally.
“We designed this space with the contemporary generation of travellers in mind and developed ways to keep them connected and engaged,” Husain Room, co-founder of H2R Design said.
“Our aim was to harmoniously bring together four contrasting elements including the bold amusement park themes, the UAE’s culturally inspired surroundings, the need for connectivity and the essentials of hotel stay tranquility. We achieved that by creating a natural flow from room to room and throughout the public spaces of the property,” he added.
Staying true to its local surroundings, hotel guests are greeted with the Arabic word ‘Marhaba’ written on the ceiling with lights.
Local artist Tarsila Schubert was commissioned to create the lenticular wall artwork at the entrance.
Hanging rattan lights in the higher tables create zoning within the space, while communal tables have been fitted out with internet connections to serve as working stations.
Metal Tolix chairs used in all the other Rove properties have also been included to maintain the brand identity.
