US hotel operator Radisson used a local interior designer for the recently-opened Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Aziziyah, a move reflecting its support of Saudi Arabia's creative industries.
Commercial Interior Design can reveal that Riyadh-based architecture and interior design practice Wetar - O2B Memar, founded in 2000, was commissioned to design the hotel that opened its doors in July.
Located in the Holy City of Makkah, it is the second Park Inn-branded hotel to open in Saudi Arabia.
The mid-market hotel will provide affordable accommodation to religious tourists performing Hajj or Umrah.
Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Aziziyah has 350 rooms and suites, with a restaurant, gym and a boardroom with timber-veneer bookshelves and cream-coloured walls.
Following the hotel's opening, Radisson now has more than 9,400 keys and 43 hotels in the kingdom.
And Tim Cordon, Radisson Hotel Group’s senior vice president for the Middle East and Africa, said the company was “well placed” to capitalise on year-on-year growth in religious tourism, according to CID's sister title, Construction Week.
