Roberto’s in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) remains a well-known venue not only for its gourmet offerings, but also for its interiors. Recently, Drawlink Group was commissioned to refurbish the restaurant. The renovation draws on the restaurant's original DNA to transform it into a light-filled, upmarket dining destination.
The design firm relooked into the renovation of the 1,465m2 venue by reshuffling the spaces and their functions. A subtle touch of luxury is added to the restaurant while keeping its warm and friendly atmosphere. Using a combination of materials such as marble, leather, brass and sandstone, the design team aimed to achieve a balance between luxury and comfort. Lighting has also been designed keeping the various spaces within the restaurant in mind.
The restaurant is articulated on a main axis that starts from the outside to the inside. This axis is punctuated by ceiling lighting. The reception desk, in addition to its function of receiving diners, it forms the epicentre that spreads out into the different areas of the restaurant. The main function areas comprise of the dining, lounge area, a stage for performances, an outdoor terrace, as well as a show kitchen.
The 3D faceted wall reflects the light in a manner that is ambient while highlighting the wall to create a textured effect. A set of Fornasetti wall plates create an area of visual interest, even as plush seating in teal and purple velvet upholstery balances the more neutral colour scheme.
Large full-length windows open out on to the terrace seating area affording views of the skyline in Downtown area. Drawlink also provided the fit-out service for the project.
