The first design images of the new InterContinental Abu Dhabi-Grand Marina, slated to open later this year, have been revealed, designed by global architectural and interior design firm Wilson Associates.
The firm drew its design inspiration from the curves of calligraphy as evidenced in the furniture, artwork and architecture of this 184-room property.
This new-build, waterfront property celebrates the city’s storied past—steeped in archaeological finds and historic poetry.
The InterContinental Abu Dhabi-Grand Marina also incorporates elements of the nearby ocean with sculptural waves and soft curves.
The resort-style guest rooms include refreshing bursts of blue, teal and green in the accessories and fabrics.
From the moment guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by accents of ocean-inspired blues and greens, and soft contemporary furnishings.
The hotel’s all-day dining venue incorporates elements from its surroundings, bringing the beach feel from the outdoors inside, such as a floor tile pattern that recreates the look of ripples of sand.
Other public spaces will include a spa, prayer room, meeting spaces and fitness facility. The project is set for completion by December 2019.
The earlier article has been modified to include the latest renderings of the project.
