The winner of the Emporis Skyscraper Award went to the Shanghai Tower, which is the world’s second tallest tower after Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.
The winner was chosen from over 300 towers of at least 100 metres in height, and which were completed in 2015.
The top 10 list goes as follows:
Shanghai Tower was chosen for its elegant spiraling cylindrical shape as well its energy efficiency. The tower is also home to the fastest elevator, which can transport people at a speed of 20 metres per second to the viewing platform which is at 561 metres.
Second place went to the Evolution Tower in Moscow for its expressive design. Each floor of the tower twists three degrees in relation to the one below it. It also has a rotation from the base to the top by over 150 degrees.
Milan’s Il Dritto (The Straight One) tower won third place, collaboration between Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and Italian architect Andrea Maffei.
