Future developments including museums, malls and leisure facilities were all showcased at Cityscape Abu Dhabi.
At the centre of the event was a detailed model of how the city will look seven years in the future as the emirate forecasts population growth and infrastructure requirements.
During the event Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy and sustainable development company, and the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) announced the UPC’s approval of the Detailed Master Plans for Phases 2 and 5 of Masdar City, one of the world’s most sustainable urban developments.
Exhibiting for the first time at the event Emirates Red Crescent, a volunteer humanitarian organisation, brings its brand new community project called ‘Emirates City’ in Socotra Island, Yemen. They hope to attract potential investors who wish to contribute to their cause of helping thousands of homeless people in their strife-torn country.
HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, vice chairman of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi said “Cityscape is a testament to the huge development that has been achieved by real estate projects in the Emirates in general and in Abu Dhabi in particular.
“Since it has already been 10 years since the launch of Cityscape Abu Dhabi, this exhibition represents an important platform for the real estate sector, especially since it is not only limited to the economic and financial benefits, but also contributes to the promotion of innovation and finding solutions and creating new initiatives in the field of real estate development. ”
