International architect firm 10 Design has just revealed images of its upcoming Jefaira Seafront Development, which will span 550 hectares across 3km of Egypt’s Mediterranean coastline.
Working in collaboration with INERTIA, a leading real estate developer from Egypt, the masterplan will consist of 10,000 to 12,000 residential units, community facilities like schools and colleges, a sports academy, swimming pools and a health and wellness centre. Extensive tourism facilities are also provided, via the development’s marinas that boast promenade cafes, restaurants, retail spaces, hotels and a convention centre.
Taking advantage of Jefaira’s natural beaches and cliffs, “the master plan is designed to locate highly active spaces where the community will benefit most, thereby creating energised spaces and destinations throughout Jefaira,” says design director Paul Rodgers.
Driven by its commitment to sustainability, the public amenities are provided with strong interconnections, and are clearly defined and organised around outdoor spaces that are activated by programmes and functions, added design partner Gordon Affleck.
“The ultimate goal is to design a vibrant urban environment with a network of public areas,” a statement from Inertia read, “celebrating the Egyptian culture together with the Mediterranean context.”
