Adriana Graur, Design director, dwp
Adriana Graur’s role as design director at dwp has not only provided her the seat to steer a forward-thinking team of pioneering designers, but it has also showcased her ability to thrive through the art of innovation.
Her peers describe her mentorship as an art form—chiselling budding designers, while simultaneously crafting and delivering awe-inspiring projects, time and time again.
Recently, Graur stepped up to take the lead across a number of ambitious ventures including Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the Executive Council Dubai and Ora Headquarters in Dubai, among others. Her collaborations have breathed life into visionary concepts such as the Buro Happold Offices and FTI. Graur was also short-listed for the Designer of the Year award at CID Awards 2023: MENA.
Graur’s prowess isn’t limited to the Dubai studio alone; she plays a pivotal role in global design practices at dwp. With a keen emphasis on sustainable design, she actively contributes her expertise to various projects emerging from dwp offices worldwide.
Agata Kurzela, Founder, Agata Kurzela Studio
Agata Kurzela represents a force of creativity and innovation in the industry. Her distinctive approach has won her commissions from coveted clients, to create one-of-a-kind spaces that excel in originality and execution. One of the most challenging and rewarding projects for the studio this year was a large office and co-working space delivered for the UAE Government that has been appreciated by the clients, along with high-end international press and awards platforms.
In just the fourth year of business, Kurzela’s studio has swiftly amassed a significant hospitality portfolio, including both hotels and event spaces for home-grown brands and global heavyweights such as Kempinski.
Before the year-end, Kurzela and her team will deliver three high-end private residences ranging from full-scale architectural projects to contemporary art and design-filled renovations.
Ahmed Hussein, founder, Ahmed Hussein Designs
Ahmed Hussein is an accomplished Egyptian interior designer and the founder of Ahmed Hussein Designs which he started in 2008. The studio specialises in high-end residential, administrative, and commercial projects both locally and internationally.
With 15 years of professional experience, Hussein’s portfolio boasts an impressive range of notable projects, showcasing his versatility and ability to adapt his design approach to different client preferences and project requirements. Since making his mark on the Egyptian scene, he has expanded with work across the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Ali Mohammadioun and Elnaz Taghaddos, Co-founders, E plus A Atelier
Ali Mohammadioun and Elnaz Taghaddos are the power pair at the helm of E Plus A Atelier and are spearheading a wider movement to redefine luxury spaces through cultural heritage.
Mohammadioun brings over a decade of architecture and interior design experience from Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia. Taghaddos also brings years of experience to the firm, with an eye for space planning. As an art consultant, she guides clients in the art world. Together, the pair are a formidable duo, leading a small but strong team of architects and interior designers.
Arghavan Sheibani, Founder, Elements of Architecture
As an award-winning architect, interior designer, set designer and lecturer, Arghavan Sheibani launched her own professional interior design boutique firm Elements of Architecture in 2010 where she works as the founder, creative director and head of design. On July 2021, she expanded the firm’s new branch in Dubai, UAE and been primarily focusing on commercial projects in the region.
With the aim of creating bespoke designs from a boutique interior design firm that would signify the abstract of design effectiveness, the firm boasts an impressive portfolio of over 100 unique multi-discipline. Her growing list of projects have been secured through recommendation, referrals and repeated business which is a true endorsement of the company’s abilities under the passionate leadership of founder and creative director Sheibani.
Ayman El Nashar, Managing director &
design director, Belhasa Interiors
Managing director and design director at Belhasa Interiors, Ayman El Nashar is responsible for the overall business development of the company and the design direction of projects. In 2023, ElNashar led a revenue increase of more 200% year-on-year and has been committed to further establishing Belhasa Interiors as one of the most reliable and innovative interior design studios in Dubai.
Key projects in 2023 include the Arab Authority for Agriculture Investment and Development Headquarters in Silicon Oasis, Qiddiya and Trojena’s staff accommodation in KSA, and multiple penthouses in the prominent Palm Jumeirah.
Under El Nashar‘s leadership, Belhasa Interiors is on track to achieve its highest level of growth since its inception, having recently grown from a humble team of nine, to a group of 35 highly qualified designers.
Carla Conte, Founder, Brand Creative
Carla Conte is a celebrated GCC experiential designer with extensive experience in brand formation and redefinition. Since founding Brand Creative in 2011, she has delivered design-forward solutions for international, regional and governmental entities. As creative director, Conte is setting new design standards in branded environments, excelling particularly across retail, beauty and wellness and leisure.
In 2023, Conte celebrated her two-decade milestone in the design industry and was responsible for creating seven brands from inception, while guiding several established entities through the repositioning processes. Her strategic design methodology is the major force behind the multi-award-winning projects she continues to produce globally. Creating work this past year alone with Cruise Saudi, Racing, Ain Al Khaleej Hospital, and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs to name but a few.
Chris Barnes, Founder, Broadway Interiors
After beginning his career as an apprentice in the United Kingdom almost four decades ago, Chris Barnes is now a veteran of Dubai’s interior design landscape. His professional journey reflects a blend of foundational skills in civil engineering and a profound passion for interiors. Barnes has been a central figure in the region’s interior design industry, having been at the helm of his firm Broadway Interiors for 24 years.
The year has been a year of significant growth for Barnes and his firm, recording 37% growth in company turnover, and completing 18 projects across various sectors – from F&B to high-end residential.
Projects like The Philosophy House in Fujairah, High So bar, and 261 Restaurant at the Els Golf Club demonstrate the unique creative approach of Barnes, while significant projects for the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre in Dubai, Injazat in Abu Dhabi and several high-profile clients in KSA add to his strong commercial portfolio. With 22 ongoing projects, 2024 continues to show no signs of slowing down.
Christian Merieau and Anil Mangalat, Founding partners, MMAC Design Associates
Christian Merieau and Anil Mangalat are the founding partners of MMAC Design Associates. This year, the dynamic duo led the firm to its 10th anniversary and marked its most successful financial year to date. As managing director, Merieau works side by side with design director, Mangalat to successfully design and deliver luxury hospitality projects in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
Clara Voce, Creative director, 1747
Clara Voce takes her motto ‘designing around food’ very seriously. A qualified pastry chef, Voce founded and developed her firm 1747 Studio with a focus on F&B, and it has certainly paid off. Voce has become the most trusted go-to for chefs and restaurant owners looking to design their new outlets or redesign existing spaces.
Home-grown success stories include Carnival, Society Room, Tresind and Tresind Studio, with a new concept ‘The Nonnaverse’ kicking off in early 2024.
Clint Nagata, Founder & Creative director, BLINK Design Group
As founder and creative partner, Nagata’s passion for travel, hospitality and design has inspired BLINK’s story. He has spent a lifetime imagining concepts, creating spaces and welcoming guests to some of the world’s most desirable places, while attracting some of the best talent in the industry.
Nagata sets the overall strategic direction for teams in Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore, and Shanghai guiding each project from conception to completion. His legacy is his philosophy of ‘placemaking’, requiring a deep dive into the culture, design traditions, and life and soul of a destination to inform the design process at every step.
In the Middle East, BLINK won wide praise for its interiors for W Dubai – Mina Seyahi, a stunning modern bohemian vision inspired by traditional Dhow boats, the romance of travel and the ancient Arabic storytelling tradition of Al-Halqa.
Dina Murali, Founder, DZ Design
As the founder and design director at DZ Design, Dina Murali is the creative force behind all projects, setting the tone and vision across the firm. She designs and oversees all the projects, from the initial planning stages to the final design phase.
Ellen Søhoel, founder, XBD Collective
Ellen Søhoel founded XBD Collective, a multi-award-winning interior design and architecture consultancy established in 2015. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Søhoel has amassed extensive expertise in interior design and architecture which has enabled her to expand the business beyond its original residential focus and into a dynamic multi-disciplinary consultancy. It’s also earned her a well-deserved place on the CID Power 50 list for 2023.
Emma Stinson, Design principal, FINCH
Emma Stinson is the design principal of FINCH, where she oversees the creative process and delivery of projects across the commercial, hospitality, retail and F&B sectors. At the helm of a 21-person team and currently working on projects throughout the region as well as in Europe and East Africa, Stinson is currently responsible for 38 live projects in the capacity of the creative director or lead designer.
The award-winning designer is firmly rooted within the design process and remains responsible for delivering original concepts for some of the world’s leading brands. The past year has been a transformative year for Stinson and the studio, as she led a rebrand from Studio Em to FINCH, channelling a new era of reinvention and growth.
Coming back to the studio after completing her maternity leave, Stinson has played a key role in the firm’s development, rapid growth and success throughout 2023.

Firas Alshain, Co-founder & design director, 4SPACE
Firas Alsahin is the co-founder and design director of 4SPACE – a dynamic, multi-award-winning design studio delivering quality architectural and interior design services in Dubai.
As the driving force at 4SPACE, Alsahin is engaged with all design processes from conceptualisation to completion. He maintains a hands-on approach that allows him to meticulously manage every phase of the design process, including 3D modelling, design development and site supervision.
Gauthier Guillaume, CEO & creative director, GG&Grace International
Gauthier Guillaume, the pioneering founder of GG&Grace International, boasts a remarkable two-decade career in designing over 30 unique hotel projects across four continents and 17 countries. As the founder and creative director at TwentyOne06, Govind Shepley, embraces creativity, data-driven precision, and a commitment to innovation in all of his work. With a diverse portfolio spanning multiple creative disciplines and 11 projects under his stewardship in the past year, Shepley boasts an impressive track record of achievements and an unwavering commitment to reshaping the design industry in the region.
Hany Saad, founder, Hany Saad Innovations
Since founding Hany Saad Innovations in 2003, the Egyptian architect and interior designer has worked on more than 300 projects across Africa and the Middle East. Saad is renowned for his signature ultra-luxurious aesthetic and his innovative use of mixed materials. With headquarters in Katameya, Cairo, Saad and his firm have participated in the completion of more than $97 million in commercial planning.
The award-winning designer leads a team of 270 full-time employees, despite humble beginnings 25 years ago as a one-man show.
Harshil Pancholi, Creative director, Sanat Interiors
Harshil Pancholi joined Sanat Interiors as an FF&E designer, and in three short years has worked his way up to become the firm’s creative director. Pancholi was behind a number of landmark projects for the firm in 2023, including Vanguard (GCC’s largest diamond cutting and polishing centre), and the Transatlantic Gems Auction House, spanning over 5900 sq. ft. located in Al Mas Tower, JLT – this is one of the biggest diamond tendering facilities in the GCC.
Most recently, Pancholi’s work has secured contracts for the 2024 Qatar Jewellery exhibition, solidifying his firm’s reputation as an industry leader in the sector.
Hasan and Husain Roomi, Founders, H2R Design
Brothers Hasan and Husain Roomi are the founders of H2R Design, a young and progressive design firm that was founded in 2012. With offices in Dubai and London, H2R is a multi-award-winning interior design company, with a focus on designing spaces with significance, influence, and soul. The Roomi brothers have a particular focus and skillset in designing hospitality, F&B, and retail projects.
From F&B venues such as Falla in Riyadh, Lazy Cat in Kuwait, and Brew in Dubai, to luxury retail spaces such as the jewellery and watch showroom Asma AlShaya Jewelry Store in Abu Dhabi, the past twelve months have continued to see Hasan and Husain lead the H2R team to delivering impressive design projects across the GCC, while expanding across the wider MENA region with the design of Marassi Beach Club in Egypt.
Indu Varanasi, Founder & design director, IR Design
Veteran architect and interior designer Indu Varanasi is the founder and design director of IR Design (IRD), a full-service interior architecture studio in Dubai. She began her career in 1998 at the Design Division of The Engineering Office of the UAE, later joining LW Design before opening her own studio in 2004 where she has since delivered iconic projects across North Africa, the GCC, India and China.
In 2023, Varanasi delivered an innovative yet practical design for Kavak HUB, a 670m2 pre-owned car showroom, with a design that optimizes intuitive user experience as well as a responsible use of materials for sustainable adaptation and longevity.
Varanasi has future plans to expand IRD’s Design Advisory services for fellow designers, architects, developers, contractors and end clients to fill the practical gap between visual design(renders), AI-generated visual patterns and on-site construction. She has also teamed up with a leading international institution to upskill mid-career professionals through short courses on the latest in design, while also establishing IRD’s RE-JOIN initiative, which helps experienced women return to work after a career break.
Joakim De Rham, CEO & co-founder, Swiss Bureau Interior Design
As the CEO and co-founder of Swiss Bureau Interior Design, Joakim De Rham takes on many roles. He’s known for his dedication to design and a hands-on approach, which and shaped the success of the firm. Under his leadership, SBID has delivered 200+ projects and served 3.5 million Sqft of creative spaces while achieving impressive organic international growth throughout UAE, GCC, and parts of Europe.
This year, De Rham has helped to deliver a wide variety of large-scale projects, including Galadari Brothers’ office space and the striking lobby interiors for Khaleej Times, as well as the British American Tobacco offices and the complex design and build of EgonZehner’s headquarters. Adding to this, De Rham played a crucial role in developing the unique campus for the University of Europe in One Central, Dubai.
Beyond design, he has also been instrumental in establishing a supportive and balanced work environment for the SBID team, introducing enhanced healthcare benefits, and bringing in a business mentor, creating a 6-month coaching program for the management team.
Joe Chamberlin, Regional director, 1508 London
As the Regional Director of the Middle East for 1508 London, Joe Chamberlin has played a pivotal role in the studio’s expansion and the successful execution of some of the most exciting projects in the region. Chamberlin leads an impressive portfolio that includes iconic projects such as the refurbishment of At.mosphere Restaurant in the Burj Khalifa and the Armani Hotel & Residences Riyadh.
The year ahead looks bright for Chamberlin and 1508 London, as the firm’s next icon, the Baccarat Hotel and Residences, comes to life having already set new sales records.
Jonathan Ashmore, Founding principal, ANARCHITECT
Jonathan Ashmore is a Founding Principal of ANARCHITECT, an award-winning, internationally RIBA chartered boutique design practice based in Dubai and London. His unique work ranges from boutique desert lodges through urban contemporary villa to luxury modernist hotels. His greatest strength is in creating authentic project narratives for design-aesthetes.
The past year saw the expansion of Ashmore’s RIBA Chartered Practice ANARCHITECT in the geographical spread of the projects, with live site works underway across 3 continents; Africa, Europe and the Middle East.
Ashmore’s continued focus on a sustainable and community-driven design includes upcoming invited Talk participation in London with the topic of ‘Local Heroes and how hyperlocal hospitality is shaking up the neighborhood’.
Ashmore is ushering into 2024 with site works including a hill-side coastal UAE retreat representing an exciting continuation of ANARCHITECT’s ‘destination hospitality’ projects. He also has plans to strengthen his commitment to the development of young professionals through participation in professional mentoring schemes. Next year, ANARCHITECT will further support the development of RIBA part II graduates looking to achieve their Part III as fully qualified RIBA architects by providing them with experience of built projects under the direction as a mentor.
Justin Wells, CEO & founder, Wells International
As the CEO and founder of Wells International, Justin Wells oversees the design and strategic direction of the company. In the past year, Wells has overseen a 9% revenue growth, 300% profitability increase and 35% jump in quoted projects. As the designer behind one of Saudi’s first beach clubs at the Red See, he continues to make his mark across the Kingdom, as well as the UAE.
With a growing team behind him, Wells is currently working on a soon-to-be-announced iconic luxury brand hotel and spa project in Dubai (only second of its kind in the world), as well as competition WIN in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM. Well was also the design mastermind behind the Waldorf Astoria hotel renovation Ras Al Khaimah, opening late 2023.
Kristina Zanic, CEO & founder, Kristina Zanic Consultants
Kristina Zanic is one of the most prominent names in the Middle East design industry, and beyond. As the founder and CEO of Kristina Zanic Consultants, her leadership and innovation extend across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Having lived in five countries and managed projects spanning 25 nations, Zanic is undoubtedly an internationally-minded
designer and often draws design inspiration from diverse cultures and the beauty of nature. The designer’s extensive portfolio of prestigious projects includes luxury resorts, first-of-their-kind hotels and eco-lodges as well as high-end F&B and wellness. Zanic has played a pivotal role in shaping this region’s perception of luxury hospitality.
Karma Zahran, Partner & creative director, Forsite Creative
As the design director and partner at Forsite Creative, Karma Zahran has a primary focus on overseeing the interior design process of all projects. While guiding the firm’s design team to deliver operationally sound yet creatively driven F&B projects, Zahran also takes charge of business development, budgets, addressing HR needs, and fostering client retention and satisfaction.
This year, Zahran and her team successfully delivered a number of projects across the GCC including Nozomi Riyadh, Robata Riyadh which was shortlisted at the CID awards. She’s currently in the final stages of handover for Kuuru Riyadh and Siddharta Lounge Jeddah, further solidifying Foresite’s commitment to design excellence.
Laila Al-Yousuf, founder, SAY Studio
Emirati American Laila Al-Yousuf is the design director of SAY Studio, where she hasled her team to deliver prestigious projects such as PwC, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, Pepsi, Uber and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. As a LEED AP, she is passionate about sustainability and wellness in design.
The PwC regional headquarters in Dubai is one of the firm’s signature projects and earned the first WELL platinum certification for the commercial category in the region. Al-Yousuf and the firm is now on track to complete PwC Cairo at the start of the new year, expanding the SAY Studio footprint across the region.
A huge year in the firm’s history, 2023 marked the opening of the second SAY Studio office located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, representing her commitment to growth in the region. This year, the studio has also acquired clients such as McKinsey, DMCC, SRMG, Unilever and has gone on to continue the relationship with existing clients such as Google, Pepsi and Siemens Energy.
Most significantly, Al-Yousuf is a fiercely dedicated humanitarian. She the mind behind the Surge for Water design competition, which attracts and encourages other designers to design for a cause. This year, it celebrates its 10-year anniversary having brought access to clean water to over 1 million people in 11 countries. Her and the team have also recently completed a pro-bono project designing a high-risk pregnancy clinic, thereby continuing the firm’s commitment to social efforts tied into the local community
Leali Ezzat, Founder & design director, ELE Interior Design
Leali Ezzat is the design director, and founder of ELE Interior Design, where she has delivered exceptional interior design projects across the residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. Beauty and wellness destination Harklinniken and Fern Flower Shop are just two of her latest commercial accomplishments, joining a line-up of high-end luxury residential projects.
Ezzat’s company is focused on diversifying its portfolio by taking on more commercial and hospitality projects while maintaining a strong presence in the high-end luxury villa segment. The studio’s expansion plans extend beyond its current boundaries, aiming to tap into growing markets such as KSA and other GCC countries, where the demand for their unique design perspective is steadily increasing.
ELE Interior’s recent experience of a remarkable 40% increase in active projects highlights their reputation for providing exceptional interior design services. Their diverse and extensive portfolio encompasses architectural planning, concept development, interior design, and project management, catering to residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces.
Lulie Fisher, Founder, Lulie Fisher Design Studio
An interior designer with over 33 years of experience in the field of architecture and interior design, Lulie Fisher leads her own eponymous studio where she is responsible for the overall creative output, client liaison and winning new projects. She has grown the studio from a start-up of two in 2016 to a team of 15 talented designers and technicians.
In the past twelve months, Fisher and her team have delivered eight hospitality projects in the firm’s most prolific year yet, all while working on another five. The studio was also named the CID Awards: MENA Boutique Interior Design Firm of the Year for a second year running.
Mihir Sanganee, Co-founder and creative director, Designsmith
Mihir Sanganee, co-founder and creative director of Designsmith, stands out in the regional design landscape with his unique blend of artistic vision and strategic growth leadership. As the creative force behind each project, Sanganee ensures that Designsmith is synonymous with bold and innovative designs.
More than just setting the artistic direction, Sanganee is pivotal in charting the company’s growth trajectory. His strategic foresight has not only earned him a spot on the CID Power 50 List for 2023 but has also been instrumental in expanding Designsmith’s influence across India, Kenya, and Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Adib, Founder of Intercon, chief design officer, Dewan Architects + Engineers
Mohammed Adib is both the founder of Intercon, a niche design company specialising in large-scale commercial interior design and the chief design officer at Dewan Architects + Engineers. With more than 30 years of experience under his belt, he has worked on a range of projects, several of them located in the GCC, such as The Avenue Hotel, Shaza Mecca Hotel, a four-star hotel in Cultural Village, Cayan Cantara Towers, Zaharam Apartments, Shatt Al Arab Hotel, to name a few.
While Intercon is based in Barcelona, 70 per cent of Adib’s work is focused in Saudi, UAE, Egypt and Kazakhstan. Under his design and management guidance, the firm has completed over 180 projects in 15 countries and has gradually expanded its services to include architecture, product design, signage and wayfinding while marking 30 years in business.
He joined Dewan in 2018, and during this time, his in-house project for Dewan’s office in Dubai Design District was previously shortlisted for a prestigious architecture award and he has helped to steer Dewan Architects + Engineers’ expansion in Southeast Asia.
Monica Arango, founder, C’est ici Design
A lawyer turned designer, Colombian-born entrepreneur Monica Arango founded the inter-disciplinary firm C’est Ici in 2017 with a minimalist approach and a design philosophy that embraces imperfect beauty. Under her creative direction, the studio has since completed over 50 luxury residential, commercial and hospitality projects in the region including a prestigious large-scale residential development for Nakheel unveiled this year.
In the last year, Arango has led a team to deliver more than 15 projects, and has developed great plans to further expand the firm’s portfolio within the commercial industry.
In 2020, the studio started Cèst ici Bespoke to address a lack of quality bespoke furniture in the local market. This specialised arm of the business, with services ranging from upholstery to carpentry, and stone and steel works, focuses on designing and producing unexpected custom pieces, where no two are the same. Arango plans to expand this angle of the business in 2024, and we will announce some exciting collaborations soon.
Nasser Al Himali, Co-founder, Nexus Design
Nasser Al Himali is the founder of Omani design firm Nexus Design, and the resident architect and interior designer. He co-founded the firm alongside architect and urban planner Manal Al Hajari in 2017 and has completed more than 100 projects including the popular Batch Bakery near Muscat.
Nikki Bisiker, Founder & creative director, Nikki Bisiker Interior Design
As the creative director and founder at Nikki Bisiker Interior Design, Bisiker is at the helm of a rapidly growing firm with a presence across the Middle East, Africa and Europe. A self-taught designer with more than two decades of experience, her portfolio varies across the F&B, luxury residential and hospitality sectors.
This year, she has welcomed two new interior designers to her team while delivering a number of luxury homes and apartments, as well as the EL&N London café in Abu Dhabi.
Omar Nakkash, founder, Nakkash Design Studio
Omar Nakkash founded Nakkash Design Studio in 2015 as a multidisciplinary architecture and design practice. The firm boasts a portfolio of harmonious spaces that carefully balance function and aesthetics across both residential and commercial sectors.
Recent highlights for Nakkash include Villa 85, a 6-bedroom luxury residence in Al Khawaneej and the Dubai Mall pop-in-shop for Compartés, California’s trendiest artisanal chocolate – both projects were shortlisted in the CID Awards 2023: MENA.
Currently, Nakkash is developing projects including the redesign of a Dubai Government office building, a 3-bedroom duplex in Zabeel, a family office, a new outlet for specialty coffee house Pdl, and an exciting collaboration with a confidential F&B developer.
Pallavi Dean, Founder, Roar
Pallavi Dean is the founder and creative director of Roar, an interior design and architecture studio in Dubai which she founded in 2013. With a team of 35 designers, Roar is consistently ranked as one of the leading interior design studios in the Middle East. The portfolio spans commercial, residential, hospitality and education.
This year, Dean has led the design of a wide range of impressive projects including offices for the law firm White & Case, and residences for members of the Forbes Billionaires List. A fierce advocate for the region’s design industry, Dean has spoken at conferences in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Amsterdam, Washington DC and beyond. Away from the spotlight, she is a regular speaker at schools and colleges in her native UAE, and has developed an online course for the design platform Domestika.
Paul Bishop, Founder, Bishop Design
Paul Bishop stands as one of the longest-serving interior designers in the region. He founded his eponymous design studio in 2004 and has since transformed the self-funded Dubai-based
agency into an internationally recognised design firm. Bishop is the mastermind behind several industry-defining F&B destinations within the demographic, including Maiz for Al Khozama Hospitality (chaired by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister). Key collaborators on Bishop’s regular client list include prestigious operators such as Sevens Holding, Atlantis Resorts, Advanced Tastes Holding Group and Sunset Hospitality.
Earlier this year, Bishop earned the Interior Designer of the Year title at the inaugural CID Awards Saudi, marking his eighth award in the past five years. Bishop and his team have successfully seen over ten venues open, with several more, with several more scheduled for completion by year’s end, and a dozen projects currently in active construction. For 2024, Paul’s primary objective is to continue elevating the profile of the Middle East on the global design stage.
Rakan Jandali, Design principal, KCA International
Rakan Jandali is the Design Principal at KCA International, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the creative and design vision for a diverse portfolio of projects. With a rich background spanning 16 years at KCA, Jandali’s expertise extends across luxury and hospitality ventures, upscale branded residences, public realm developments, and prestigious Grand Mosque designs. In his capacity as design principal, he not only oversees the quality of design output but also spearheads innovative approaches to expand the organization’s offerings across the GCC, Africa, and Asia.
Rachel Kidd, Pooja Shah Mulani and Andrew Harms, Partners, LW Design Group
This power-trio are the partners and design directors at LW Group and share a collective dedication to pushing boundaries, embracing diverse cultural influences, and upholding a steadfast commitment to design excellence. The past year has been an incredible success, with the completion of several award-winning projects, including the transformation of Bab Al Shams, the first Rare Finds Desert Resort & Spa, Waldorf Astoria in Kuwait, and Vida Dubai Marina.
Fine dining destinations such as Bushra by Buddha-Bar, Chic Nonna and Row On 45 are also on their list of accomplishments, as they work towards completion of One Za’abeel, including the first SIRO hotel.
Rasha Al-Takreeti, Co-founder & creative director, Warû
Rasha Al-Tekreeti is an Iraqi interior architect, co-founder, and creative director of Warû, an interior architecture and strategic design agency specializing in crafting nomadic spaces. As a design enthusiast, Al-Tekreeti not only leads the company, but she also actively engages in every project, ensuring each client experiences the pinnacle of design excellence.
Her foray into hospitality and workplace design consultancy has garnered a portfolio spanning prestigious names in large-scale hospitality projects, with brands such as Westin, Hyatt, and Fairmont amongst other corporate firms, including projects for Siemens Energy, and F5 Networks in office design spaces.
In 2024, Al-Tekreeti has plans to expand her team to champion Warû’s mission of reshaping the design industry towards a more purpose-centric future. Deeply committed to making a positive impact on society, she is an active volunteer at SURGE, a non-profit organization registered in the UAE that addresses the critical issue of global water scarcity.
Rock Galpin, Founder, Rock Galpin Studio
Rock Galpin is the founder of Rock Galpin Studio, a London-originated studio that has relocated to Dubai. The studio specialises in design, from developing product and furniture designs for international furniture brands to interior and architectural design projects and private commissions and supply of product collections, produced in UAE.
Galpin has 33 years of industry experience under his belt and has spent 26 years teaching the next generation of designer leaders at a number of education institutes. He’s currently teaching interior and furniture design undergraduate courses at Zayed University and Graphic and Brand Design degree courses at Istituto Marangoni.
Galpin is a pro-active advocate of design in the region giving numerous talks and appearances. He’s aslo established furniture design theory to development making courses at in5 Design, d3 Prototyping Lab and set up and run an extensive workshop program for creatives.
Shahad Obaisi, Design manager, Four Solutions Company
As the design manager at Four Solutions Company, Shahad Obaisi is deeply immersed in all project stages starting from the presales phase, moving on to conceptual and detailed design, project planning, and ending successfully with execution. In the past year, Shahad Obaisi was nominated for three awards at CID Awards 2023: Saudi.
She has designed more than 20 projects and has built a solid reputation for delivering high-end and top-quality office solutions across a range of industries which has been proven in projects such as HP KSA office fit-out, DMS (Digital mobility solutions) office fit-out, the Four Solutions office and Female Lounge.
Shazad Azam, Founder, COO & head of design, International Design Associates
With over 25 years of interior design and architecture expertise, Shazad Azam has established himself as an international design leader. His portfolio includes the design of hotels, residential, workplaces, retail, and master-planning in different countries. Azam launched International Design Associates in Bahrain in 2013, beginning with a humble team of three. He’s since led the firm through rapid growth, and after a decade, IDA has grown into a global hospitality company with influence across Bahrain, Pakistan, and Thailand. The company’s global footprint continues to expand, with plans underway to open two more offices in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Azam’s unique combination of creative vision and forward-thinking approach has played a prominent role as the firm’s head of design. He provides creative direction to all IDA Global studios and oversees the entire process from conceptualisation to execution.
Sneha Divias, Architect & founder, Sneha Divias Atelier
With over a decade of experience, Sneha Divias drives the success of Sneha Divias Atelier, conceptualising transformational designs in the realms of commercial, hospitality, and residential spaces. Her portfolio boasts luxury residences, commercial projects, and child-focused spaces that have garnered regional and international accolades, as she collaborates with renowned developers and clients across multiple countries, including the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, India, USA, and Portugal.
Notable projects from 2023 include the creation of kids spaces in Bangalore and Dubai, a nursery in Abu Dhabi, and a multi-residential development in Ras Al Khaimah in collaboration with RAK Properties, as well as several residential properties. Additionally, the Atelier is contributing to the creation of a preschool and co-working space in Texas. Sneha has also joined forces with creative partner Rasna Oberoi and Finasi to develop a distinctive kids furniture line, exploring product design. Throughout this year, Sneha actively contributed to the design community through speaking engagements, judging, and facilitating workshops, always striving to actively empower and support the Dubai design community.
Soren Kraen, Founder & owner, Xworks Interiors
UAE-based Xworks Interiors has gone from strength to strength in the past twelve months, led by founder and executive director Soren Kraen. The firm was recognized for its growth and industry impact as a recipient of the Highly Commended award for Interior Fit-Out Firm of the Year – Small Scale in the CID Awards 2023: MENA, and Kraen’s team credits his ability to push the boundaries of design to deliver innovative and creative solutions to commercial spaces.
Kraen’s professional journey began in the logistics sector, where he honed his skills before venturing into entrepreneurship and design. Leveraging his expertise acquired from a renowned interior design firm, he established his own highly successful enterprise. His success and dedication to championing more sustainable design, has earned his place on the CID Power 50 List for 2023.
Stuart Allen, Founder & managing director, Allen Architecture Interiors Design
Stuart Allen is the managing director and founder at Allen Architecture Interiors Design (AAID), where he leads and oversees the design projects of the firm. In the past year, Allen has led the firm’s expansion into Saudi Arabia in response to the increasing demand from clientele in the Kingdom, and is currently in the process of establishing an office in KSA set to open in early 2024.
Allen and his firm introduced the iconic Mr. Chow brand to the KSA region with the opening of its venue in Riyadh, and collaborated with other entities on the delivery of ROKA and soon-to-be ZUMA in Riyadh.
He was recently approached by the team at Dr Sulaiman Al Habib, the leading healthcare provider in the Middle East, to design headquarters in Riyadh, encompassing of 20,000 sqm spread over ten floors.
Tres Stone, Design director, Keane
As design director for Keane, Tres Stone is responsible for creating original concepts and seeing through the entire design process, while guiding the team to achieve exceptional results. The firm praises her unique knowledge of operational intricacies, encompassing target markets, industry trends, and foresight, which ensures the seamless integration of a concept throughout the design.
Stone has been a key driving force behind the recent growth of Keane. In just 6 months, the firm expanded its office to a team of 25, completed 19 bespoke F&B concepts, a beach club, 4 others for Giga-projects, and reformed a partnership with Marriot.
Vaida Buchrotaite, Principal & director of interior design, DLR Group
Principal and director of interior design at DLR Group, Vaida Buchrotaite consistently delivers impressive design. This year, she received a series of accolades for her work on Canopy by Hilton The Point, located in the mountainous region of Abha, where her and the wider DLR team not only met client expectations but exceeded them, solidifying the group’s position as one of the most powerful firms in the region.
Buchrotaite’s commitment to nurturing young talent is evident through the multiple awards won by three of her mentees and team members, while her ability to inspire and empower her team has been a driving force behind the company’s success.
Vera Dieckman, Founder & creative director, XO Atelier
Vera Dieckmann is the founder and creative director of boutique studio XO Atelier, and a seasoned architectural engineer with 26 years of professional experience.
She established the studio three years ago in Dubai and currently serves as the lead creative designer, architect, and driving force behind the studio’s creative and business endeavours. Over the past year, the team has expanded from three to five members, and XO Atelier is increasingly focusing on creating bespoke design solutions for residential and hospitality projects.
In 2023, the studio is expanding its horizons by venturing into creating a decor and accessory line to complement its designs and cater to every client’s interior project. Diekmann is also collaborating with Nemo Lighting on a light creation to be unveiled in Milan.
Yasmin Farahmany, Founder, YDesign Interior
Yasmine Farahmany is an Iranian-Canadian designer with a diverse upbringing, having lived in Dubai, Canada, and Milan. This international exposure has evidently influenced her design sensibilities, making her work culturally rich and adaptable to various design styles. She founded Y Design Interior in 2020, and in a relatively short time, it has grown to become one of the leading boutique design firms.
She received the CID Highly Commended award for Interior Design of the Year: Hotel 2023 for a prestigious project Caesars Palace Hotel in Blue Waters Island, and has participated in various events as a panel speaker and designer. In the three years since opening her own company, she has completed over 20 projects – BB Social at Rosewood Hotel Abu Dhabi, and several successful F&B projects at Caesar’s Palace on Bluewaters Dubai, just to name a few.
