Atkins has hired Edward McIntosh as its regional director for the Middle East, with the practice looking to double its workforce in Saudi Arabia.
The British architecture, design and engineering subsidiary of Canada's SNC-Lavalin, said McIntosh will bring a wealth of experience to Atkins.
He boasts more than 16 years’ experience leading international architectural design teams and projects in South America, UK, China and South East Asia.
He worked at Populous in London for six years, where he led the design of major sports projects including the London 2012 Olympic Games.
He also led Grimshaw’s design team in South East Asia, focusing on retail, hospitality, workplace, and sports projects.
Commenting on McIntosh’s appointment, Atkins Middle East & Africa’s managing director for design and engineering, Adrian Lindon, said: “Bringing a wealth of experience in design and architecture, McIntosh will play a key role in supporting our business strategy focused on delivering high quality services to our clients across the region, as well as driving growth opportunities in key markets.”
