The work of celebrated Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej, whose calligraphy graces Dubai’s Museum of the Future, is set to feature in the newly-opened Saddle Café in Cannes, France.

Saddle has become the first Emirati café to open on the French Riviera after humble beginnings as a food truck. The Dubai-founded institution has been so successful it’s expanded to 13 locations in the Emirates, before opening its first European outlet on August 11.

As part of the existing collaboration with Bin Lahej, Saddle House in Abu Dhabi features an incredible ceiling-mounted art piece called ‘Speed’ – the four horses crafted from steel represent motion, agility and power.

Saddle’s founder, Mohammed Al Falasi, said: “Saddle’s France opening brings the UAE’s rich culture, hospitality, culinary excellence, and specialty coffee onto a global stage. This international expansion is a testament to Saddle’s wide appeal, and we are honoured to share our tradition with the world.”

Two more international openings are planned for London in September and Riyadh in October. Bin Lahej will create an exclusive art piece for each Saddle Café outlet.
