Products play an important role in interior design. They not only add a distinct personality to any space, but also enhance its functional value. In the past few years, thanks to the increasing number of design events in the Middle East, the product design discipline has gained prominence in the interior design industry. Going beyond the decorative appeal, these products, including furniture objects are capable of redefining spaces and improving the quality of life in our living and working environment.

Materials and processes play a huge role in the manufacturing of products in the contemporary context as the pace of evolution is much faster than they used to be, say, 10 years ago. This ties in with the current zeitgeist of combining innovation with sustainability.

Commercial Interior Design, in collaboration with well-known architectural surface manufacturer, Cosentino, is also holding a panel discussion on product design and its growing popularity as a creative discipline in the Middle East. Listen to our panellists – Khalid Shafar, Juan Roldan, Sergio Mendes, Mona Ramzy, Mehry El Masry – discuss what it takes to be a product designer and what are the challenges and opportunities to collaborate with international firms for product designers in the region.
The forum takes place on Tuesday, April 30, 6:30 to 8:30pm at Cosentino showroom, building 4A, Office 401, Dubai Design District.
