If you're a talented photographer on the quiet, on simply need more art in your life, you should know that Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual photography exhibition, Vantage Point Sharjah, has returned.
Since launching in 2013, and now in its eighth year, the annual photography show aims to support the medium of photography. This year the exhibition will feature the work of more than 30 artists from over 20 countries.
The selected artists and photographers were chosen from an international open call and their works can be viewed from Saturday, August 29th until Saturday, November 28th at Al Hamriyah Studios.
All the works of art tell a different story – from personal experiences to captured landscapes and futuristic scenarios – through a variety of approaches including collage, analogue photography and digital manipulation.
The exhibition is free to attend and to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone attending, slots can be booked in advanced here.
Of course, it's not all the creativity Sharjah has in its locker.
While you're there, be sure to check out The Rain Room Sharjah installation, which allows visitors to pass through a torrent of water but remain dry, thanks to motion sensors, which detect movement and cause the rain to stop.
It's open to the public daily from 4pm-9pm on Fridays and 9am-9pm on Saturdays to Thursdays.
Also to re-open with the same timings are the gallery spaces for the foundation’s current exhibition, Art in the Age of Anxiety, which explores the ways in which everyday devices, technologies and digital networks have altered our collective consciousness.
Sharjah, serving inspiration as always.
