Dubai's popular 'street style' festival Sole DXB will not take place in 2020.
Making the announcement in an Instagram post the organisers say that they were "not confident that we can deliver the experience you deserve with the health and safety standards we expect."
"Outside of being a space for self-expression, we know that the festival has been a platform for new ideas and creative aspirations. While this window closes temporarily, we are working on opening a door, and for those that have the headspace and opportunity to create, we will continue to work with you," the statement continues.
First launched in 2010, aside from its celebration of street culture and fashion, the event has held a strong architectural focus.
In addition to various brand pavilions and booths, the masterplan and layout of the overall event informs the navigation and its relation to the theme.
The festival, which celebrates the best of street art, music, fashion and culture, had been due to run in December. No new date has been announced for the event.
What is still coming to d3 for Q4 is Dubai's first festival of architecture, in partnership with RIBA's Gulf Chapter.
Showcasing landmark regional architectural projects, the event will host a series of talks to steer the Middle East towards a more sustainable future, and invite designers, architects and the general public to participate in daily workshops.
