More than AED 100,000 is up for grabs to the designer who can create the winning idea for a new outdoor market.
Dubai Design Week's Urban Comissions programme for 2020 asks the creative community to help design the al fresco retail space.
Designers are asked to propose designs for a central multi-purpose retail unit that will become the market's "signature identity," where retailers can display, stock and sell their products.
The winning proposal will be awarded AED 60,000 plus costs of up to AED 40,000 to produce a prototype.
A panel of judges from the Art Dubai Group and A.R.M. Holding will look at entries that best meet the main requirements, with cost being a main factor.
As well as being affordable, the 1.5mx4 metre units must also be mobile, easy to pack, be self-powered, multi-functional and stand up to harsh weather, wtih their own own independent cooling systems.
Dates for the 2020 edition of Dubai Design Week have been confirmed.
The festival is set to take place at Dubai Design District (d3) from November 9th-14th.
Submissions for the Urabn Comission must be sent to email@example.com by August 30th 2020.
